How to read keyword density

Density is the share of the total word count taken by a term: (occurrences × words in phrase) ÷ total words × 100. For a single keyword in a normal article, anything from roughly 0.5% to 2% reads naturally. Much higher usually means repetition a reader will notice.

There is no target number that ranks a page. Use the list to check that your main topic appears at all, that supporting terms exist, and that no phrase is repeated mechanically. Two and three-word phrases are often more revealing than single words.

Stop words such as “the” and “of” are filtered by default because they dominate any text without saying anything about the topic.
